  • Always call 911, always look around the area of the victim, in case of dangers to yourself, like fallen powerlines. If you are giving the victim CPR yell for someone to call 911 for you.Check for signs of life, like breathing and shout to them anything for a response. For the nature of this article we are going to assume there is none. For an adult you tilt their head back and lift their chin and give two full breaths, place your hands in the center of the chest and begin with thirty compressions. Repeat, with two breaths and thirty compression. Continue until an ambulance arrives or the victims comes to. If the victim does come to, roll onto side into a recovery position.
  • Children (1-8 years) are a different story and it is important to know how. Again checks signs of response, if there is none, give two breaths and begin with thirty compression, with ONE hand. Continue this process until an ambulance arrives.
  • Infants (0 - 1 years) are the most important, because you can't tilt their head back, this is because their windpipes aren't as strong as an adult's or an older child's windpipe. Give two reasonable breaths, because they only have little lungs and begin with thirty compression with TWO FINGERS. Repeat the process until medical help arrives.

As daunting as it might seem. Learning CPR from the American Red Cross can be vital and may even save someone's life, even yours. Any age or type of people can learn first aid, the american red cross cpr classes has tailored for every type of person or group. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, general first aid is so very important for everyone to know to make the world safer and help those people in need.
